What we believe . . .

The Quaker Testimonies

Simplicity: Quakers keep our lives centered on God. We avoid what is unnecessary or excessive. This includes being real in what we say and in how we act.

Peace: Quakers don't use violence towards others. Quakers believe in finding out what causes problems and solving those causes before there is conflict. If there are conflicts, we work for nonviolent solutions.

Integrity: This means living an honest life so that our words and our actions are both true. “What you see is what you get.”

Community: Quakers try to share what strengths we have with all people in our group—whether it is family, school, neighborhood, or beyond. Part of being a community member is understanding the needs of others in the group.

Equality: All persons have equal worth in the sight of God. We are all important no matter what our abilities may be. Differences in people do not make one person better than another.

Stewardship: All we have is given by God. Friends feel responsible for taking care of the earth and all life on it.
